Mr. McDowell made going to the vet a pleasure. Animals just seemed to trust him. I know he's surrounded by all the animals he touched who were waiting at heaven's gate.

I'm very sad to see that Michael has passed away. He was a modern day St. Francis. I've never met another soul who was any more caring for animals than he was. Godspeed, Michael. Your passing has made the world a little darker, but Heaven a little brighter.

I having taking my pets to Boulevard Animal for many years. He also showed patients and care for all my pets, a gentle caring man who helped all who came in. I'm saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace. Heaven gained an angel.

Michael was always one of my favorites when visiting Dr. Westmoreland with my kitties an puppies. He was always so happy and eager to help me. What a wonderfully kind person he was. I will always be thankfully he was part of my life and of my critters. Your family is in my prayers.

I worked with Michael back in the early 90's when he and I worked at Ken's Mini Mart on West Marion Street. He was always a joy to work with and had such a great sense of humor.

I am so sorry to see this sad news. I thought the world of Michael. For 30 yrs always seeing his smiling face at Blvd Animal Hosp. We always gave each other a hard time (joking around). & I adored him. Such a true good guy & so caring. My heart is heavy but I know he had a lot of health issues and now he is dancing in the sky surrounded by all the animals.

I am sorry for your loss, but Heaven has gained a kind and gentle Angel. Michael was always very good and gentle with my animals when I took them to Boulevard Animal Hospital. I am sure he touched many lives during all the years he worked there.

I want to say that I am at a loss for words right now. I am currently deployed overseas and just heard about Micheal passing. While I did not get know him personally as well as I probably should have, he was always so very kind, gracious, patient beyond all understanding with my family and I when we brought our dogs in to the vet. He was there when my family had to have our retrievers put to sleep while I was away. The care that he took for both of those dogs and the compassion shown to my family will always be remembered. He will be missed and our community will be poorer for his passing.

Mr. McDowell was always a welcoming face at Boulevard Animal Hospital, and seemed to soothe the sick animals that came in, as well. He was also seemingly fearless. He never acted as though a sick, frightened animal might hurt him. He was an important part of the hospital. I am sorry he is gone.

I have taken my dogs to Boulevard Animal Hospital for many years and remember Michael very well. He was always so very helpful to me and my animals. It was easy to tell that he loved working with animals and was a great addition to the clinic. I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep your family in my prayers.
