Michael Keith McDowell

Michael Keith McDowell, age 56 of 110 Felter St., Shelby,NC.; the son of Elder Elsie Freeman McDowell and the late James McDowell, Sr. was born on September 5, 1959 in Cleveland County.  He transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on the morning of September 15, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Michael loved nature, had a passion for animals and enjoyed working word-search puzzles. He was a faithful employee with Boulevard Animal Hospital for more than 30 years. There he fulfilled his gift of caregiving to animals and brought joy to many patrons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James McDowell, Sr. and a brother Mr. James McDowell, Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by seven sisters Mrs. Gwendolyn Lawrence (Bobby), Mrs. Sylvia Phillips (Chuckey), Sheliah Webber (Anthony) and Mrs. Janet Dillard (Mikel) all of Shelby, NC.  Mrs. Angela Jones (Buddy) of Kings Mountain, NC, Ms. Cheryl McDowell of Decatur, GA and Mrs. Lisa Jeffries (Andre) of Las Vegas, NV., One sister-in-law, Aquanetta McDowell of Oxon Hill, MD, Two brothers, Mr. Ricky McDowell (Joan) of Warner Robins, GA and Mr. Everette Wayne McDowell of Claremore, OK.  Three aunts, Ms. Margaret Crenshaw of Kings Mountain, NC, Ms. Elizabeth Hogue of Fairfield, CA and Ms. Louise Freeman, of Charlotte, NC.  Special acknowledgements to a special friend, Ms. Selena Allison, Ka Tonya Allison (who he thought of as a daughter) and Little Mr. Mekhi Murray, who was like a grandson, and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving friends, 2:30pm at the church and at other times, 110 Felter St. and his sisters home, 1329 Concord St., Shelby NC.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, September 18, 2015 at Shoal Creek Bapt. Church.

The Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
