Mr. Shawn Lamont Borders was born March 23, 1972 to the late Gloria Ross Schenck and James E. Jefferies at Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby, NC. He tragically departed this life on November 24, 2015 at his home in Shelby, NC.
Shawn attended Burns High School. He was a God-fearing individual, even at a very young age Shawn had a relationship with Christ and knew about God’s Word. Shawn had been baptized in Jesus’ name at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He is remembered by many as a loyal fun loving guy who could fill any room with laughter. In his free time, Shawn enjoyed playing basketball and doing landscaping. He often offered his landscaping services free of charge to many friends and family, especially the elderly and those in his community.
In addition to his mother, Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leander Ross and Grace Ross Brooks; paternal grandmother, Rosa Jefferies, two sons, Dominique Leary and Sergio Leary; and two uncles, Elder Philbert Ross and Talmage Ross.
Shawn leaves to cherish fond memories with his father J.E. Jefferies of Shelby, step-father, Johnny Schenck of Waco, NC; daughter, Kierra Leary of Shelby, two sons, Devon Leary and DaShawn Hillman both of Shelby; two grandchildren, April and Elijah of Shelby; one sister, Angela Ross of Shelby; one nephew, Randy Brown of Shelby and niece, LaDonna Brown of Gastonia, one great-nephew, Bryson Coats; two aunts, Emma Griggs of Shelby and Dorothy (Ernest) Sloan of Charlotte; an uncle, Leroy Ross of Shelby; two close friends, Lamont Bratton and Brandon Jeffries of Shelby, a close cousin, Eli Ross, and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Unity Independence Bapt. Church
The family will be leaving from Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel
The burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery
