SHELBY- Montavas Lamon Lawton, 23, of 1804 New Prospect Church Rd., Shelby, passed away on April 19, 2016, at Carolina HealthCare System-Cleveland.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 @ 3:00 pm,  First Baptist of Lawndale

Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery

Montavas Lamon Lawton, age 23, was born July 22, 1992 in Shelby, NC to Marcus L. and Melissa R. Lawton.

Montavas was a loving and devoted father to his son, Kaythan Lawton. He was a 2010 graduate of Burns High School in Lawndale, NC. He was employed at Shelby Nursery.

Montavas departed this life to be with the Lord on April 19, 2016 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents: Hattie Phillips, Ed Beam, Will Henry Dorsey, and Martha Wilson Dorsey; paternal great-grandparents, Paul Jackson, Ceonia Lattimore Jackson, Henry Paul Sr. and Mary Lee Lawton; maternal grandfather: Willie Melvin Beam and paternal grandmother: Sarah Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, in addition to his parents: his son, Kaythan J. Lawton; two sisters: Sharkeila Lawton and Malaysia Lawton; his maternal grandmother, Janice S. Lockhart; his paternal grandfather, Jessie Jackson Sr.; five aunts: Robin Dorsey, Tammy Beam, Danielle Beam, Lakeisha Muhammad, and Sharon Jackson; four uncles: Willie Beam, Darren Dorsey, Brian Jackson, and Maurice Gidney; a special great-uncle: Earnest Lawton; honorary uncle and aunts: Charleston Jones, Vatonya Jones, Earnestine Lawton, Karen Jones Burris, and Lizzie Jones; God-parents John and Vanessa Kee; four special cousins: Sha’Kayla Oates, Zaria Jones, Tevin Hawk, and QuayShawn Oates; four special friends: Herman Hopper, Wendell Burris, Jerry Burris, and Gregory Oates; and a host of other beloved family members and friends.
