Shelby- Furman Wilson, Jr., 79, entered into eternal peace at his home on Friday, February 5, 2016. He was a native of Cleveland County. Furman was the son of Furman Wilson, Sr. and Annie Roberts Wilson.
Furman worked at Burlington Mills for many years until his retirement.
Furman was a faithful member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the chairman of the Deacon Ministry, Layman League, and the Men’s Choir. He was very active in the sick and shut in ministry. He was well known in the Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Hospice, and for the many home visits.
Furman served in the Prison Ministry for over forty years, He also served in Jail ministry. These ministries were very dear to his heart and he served them faithfully. He believed that there was no such thing as retirement when it comes to being a servant.
Furman served in the ministry of Benevolent, helping those who needed help with utilities, prescriptions, and other expenses that might arise. He helped with the Food Pantry assisting with the needs of the community. His joy was taking care of his wife. He was a faithful husband above anything else. He cared for her without complaining. He would take her with him wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, Furman was preceded in death by two brothers; DeFay Wilson, Sr., J. C. Wilson, three sisters; Josephine Odoms, Tishie Mae Whitworth, and Fannie B. Dickerson.
Left to cherish his fondest memories, his wife of sixty one years, Pearl Burris Wilson, three sons; Nathaniel Wilson of the home, Ricky Wilson (Sylvia) of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Willie Burris (Lisa) of Gastonia, North Carolina , one brother; Joe Wilson (Carolyn) of Waco, North Carolina, one sister; Ruby Mackey (Cleveland) of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Washington Miss. Bapt. Church, Waco, Pastor  M.L. Clark

Burial will take place at the church cemetery
