Willie Logan Dawkins

Gaffney – Willie L. Dawkins, 101, of 109 Illinois Circle Gaffney, SC entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:05 a.m. at her residence surrounded by her family. 

She was born on May 21, 1920, and was the last living survivor born to the late Carrie and James “Jim” Logan.  She was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was the Mother of the Church and member of the Senior Choir.

Mother Dawkins loved serving others by sharing her skills as a seamstress, cook, and babysitter.  She raised seven of her grandchildren while their parents worked: Brucie Dawkins, Deacon Mark Dawkins, Timothy Dawkins, Tracey Davidson, Elder Stacey Watkins, Minister Loretta Holmes, and Larry Byers, Jr.

Proceeding her in death are her husband, R.B. Dawkins, her children: S.W. Dawkins and James W. Dawkins. Her brothers: Clark Logan, Carlise Logan, Morgan Logan, Sumpter Logan, Elphord Logan, and Frances Logan. Her sisters: Bennie Harris, Minnie Littlejohn, Beddie Woods, and Annie Logan. A son-in-law, Thomas Weeks, Sr., and one granddaughter, Teresa Byers.

Left to cherish her fond memories are: two daughters, Ms. Margaret Dawkins of the home and Celia D. Weeks of Gaffney; two sons, Charles Dawkins (Flora) and Broadus Dawkins both of Gaffney; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including dear friends, Ms. Emma Houston and Mrs. Mary Lou Littlejohn.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, September 25,2021 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The body will lie-in-state at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the residence daily from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
