Terry Edward Dunlap, age 67, transitioned from this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Atrium Health, Pineville, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Walker Guy Dunlap and Rebecca Williams Dunlap.
Terry was a 1971 graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Kings Mountain, North Carolina. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. His service took him to many countries namely Germany and Panama. After his retirement from the army, he returned to Kings Mountain. He was last employed with Magnolia Finishing, Blacksburg, South Carolina after 30+ years of service.
As a young adult, he joined Vestibule A.M.E Zion Church in Kings Mountain. Years later, he joined Mount Sinai, Smyrna, South Carolina, Pastor Kenneth Bell. There he was a faithful member of the Choir and Usher Board. On one glorious morning the Lord spoke to his heart. This was the beginning of his journey as a minister. From there he became an associate minister with the church he so dearly loved. He loved to sing and always praised God to the highest. From his love of God, souls were saved.
Terry was a kind quiet man, but could be funny when he wanted to be. He loved talking with people and never met a stranger. He will be missed by his family and many adoring friends.
He leaves to cherish a son, Aaron Dunlap of Gastonia, North Carolina; a daughter, Ashley McClure, children’s mother; Loretta McClure of Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Priscilla A. Dunlap of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; an aunt, Lestenia W. McDowell of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; a grandson, Aaron Dunlap, Jr. and Loretta McClure. He had a great friendship with Bobby Elliott and Clifton Goins; a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral: Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2pm Genesis Funeral Home ( 407 E. Grover St. Shelby, NC) in the Otis Mobley, Jr. Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
Burial: Mountain Rest ( Military Honors will be performed)
The family will meet at 123 Tin Mine Rd. Kings Mountain, NC the home of at Priscilla Dunlap.
