Terry Bonds Obituary

Spartanburg – On Tuesday April 12, 2022, our lives changed forever for this was the day that our beloved Terry peacefully transitioned to be with our heavenly father.

Terry Lynn Bonds was born July 17th, 1957, in Spartanburg, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Sam Bonds Jr. (Betty) and a grandson Kei’Mydre Ross. He is survived by Thay Jones Jr.

Terry is survived by his siblings Anita, Tonya, Annie, Ann Bogan, Tracy Jones all of Spartanburg

James of Georgia, Richard (Daisy) Columbia SC, Willie (Tyshika) New York, Aaron Jones (Joanne) Cathaye Jones (Terrell) Chris Brandon (Nicole) TN and his companion of 12 years Helen Dial of Laurens, SC affectionately known as “Fruit”.  Terry would often refer to them as” Fruit Tree”

Terry was a loving father to Terry Lynn Bonds Jr of California and Brittney Wells of the home, Kenya Dial Heath and Steven Dial reared in the home in Laurens, SC. He was the grandfather or affectionately known as “Papa Terry” to Keith, Keiarierous, Cameron, Wisdom, Tobias, and Coreon.

Terry was loved by many including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

At an early age he was educated in Spartanburg County schools and after graduating he traveled to Columbia SC to attend Columbia Commercial College to study Art and Drafting and later attended Allen University in Columbia SC to study Art and Business. Terry's artwork could be seen all over South Carolina and as far away as New York.  He always wanted to open an art studio where he could share his passion with others while teaching the fundamentals of art. He was overjoyed when given opportunities to teach art to young children. He loved art in every form and music was included, he was a huge fan of jazz, gospel and reggae.

Terry was no stranger to the gospel and the goodness of God. When he was younger, he attended church with his family and as he grew in stature his faith grew as well.  Until his untimely passing he was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Laurens SC where he served as a trustee, member of the All-Male Choir, Amour bearer to his Pastor/ friend Reverend Wilkins and he was also in charge of the weekly inspirational quotes on the church marquee.

For twenty plus years he was a devoted worker for Kmart Corp where he worked in Loss Prevention and Asset protection.

Terry was a devoted son, brother, father, friend, uncle, cousin, nephew, teacher, lodge brother and more. He was a gentle giant that loved everyone. laughed a lot, loved traveling, singing and being around people.

There was nothing Terry liked better than an interesting conversation with good friends and family. He could have an engaging conversation with almost anyone. One could say that Terry never met a stranger, and he always shared his smile.

Terry Lynn Bonds also known as Tree will be missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN.
