Shonda Evette (Wright) Brooks

Shonda Evette Wright-Brooks was born  June 21, 1968 to Jimmy McSwain and the late Shirley Wright in Shelby, North Carolina.  Shonda gained her wings on January 26, 2021 at Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. 

Shonda received her formal education at Shelby Senior High School, Shelby, North Carolina.  She was  employed by Walmart Distribution Center in Sutherlin, VA as a Quality Assurance Associate.  Shonda loved traveling, shopping, and spending time with her children.

She accepted Christ in 2009 and was a member of Jesus Way Mission.

Shonda was united in marriage with Fulvio Brooks on July 5, 2008 in Gaffney, South Carolina. To this union they was blessed with 3 children. 

Preceding her in death are: her mother; Shirley Wright, an uncle; Terry Wright, and an aunt; Diane Archie. 

Left to cherish fond memories: her  husband; Fulvio Brooks, children;  Courtney M. Brooks (Martineous) Carmeron Brooks, Cory Brooks, granddaughter; Carmen Hopper, father; Jimmy McSwain, grandmother; Pauline Wright, sister; Tetria Wright, brothers; Ronald Wright of Shelby, North Carolina, Dexter McSwain and James McSwain of Phoenix, Arizona, aunt; Denise Darby (Maurice), uncles; Calvin Wright, Michael Wright, Steven Wright, nieces; Shenice Wright, Kierra Darby, Chasity Thompson, Ca’mya Parks, Ca’liyah Parks, nephews; Chalyn Parks, MJ Darby, special friends; Denise Marable, Glenda Thompson, Lisa Wright, a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel in the Otis Mobley Memorial Chapel at 11:30 A.M. Visitation 30 minutes prior to service . Burial Sunset Cemetery.  

The family will meet at the home of her grandmother at 1116 Earl Street Shelby
