Robert Jay Hopper, Sr

Shelby -Mr. Robert Jay Hopper, Sr. entered into eternal peace on Thursday,March 4th 2021 at his residence in Shelby, NC. Mr. Hopper was born February 7th 1947 to the late Rev. Garland Hopper, Sr. and Hattie Ross Hopper. Mr. Hopper was formerly employed by Dora Ann Mills, where he faithfully worked as a machine fixer and doffer. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, playing the guitar, going to flea markets, sitting outside talking with his neighbors and friends, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents; Robert was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter; Todd-Tinana Bennett, two brothers: Hazelee Hopper,Garland Hopper, Jr., three sisters: Carolyn Adams, Mary Maddox, and Betty Sue Hopper Archie.

He leaves to cherish precious fond memories: his wife; Sarah Allen Hopper, his children: Tammy Spikes (Omar), Angie Gill, Robert Jay Hopper, Jr. and Katrina Smith all of Shelby, NC; three sisters: Sarah Gill (Sherwood) of Shelby, NC; Rosie Williams (John), Willie Mae Hopper Langston (Barry) of Boiling Springs, NC; three brothers: Walter
Hopper (Annie) of Cherryville, NC, Lee Manuel Hopper of Boiling Springs, NC; Paul Hopper of Shelby, NC; one brother-in-law; Robert Adams of Shelby, NC; sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He also leaves to cherish fond memories his close friends, Mr. Robert Lee, who checked on him daily and Pauline Hopper.

Funeral: Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2pm at Ellis Chapel  Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to service. 

Burial: Ellis Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery
