Robert Lee Chambers Jr.

Kings Mountain - Robert Lee “G-Bug” Chambers, Jr., was born on May 11, 1964 in Cleveland County, North Carolina.  He was called to rest on Monday, February, 14, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina.  He was the son of Alice Dawkins Chambers and the late Robert Lee Chambers, Sr.

Robert graduated in the Class of 1983 from Bessemer City High School.  Robert had a heart of gold and a smile that would brighten your day.  No matter who it was, if Robert had it, you had it.

At an early age, Robert joined Greater Mount Zion, now known as Mount Zion Restoration, in Gastonia, North Carolina.  He was formerly employed at Advanced Auto Warehouse, Gastonia, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Chambers, Sr., his maternal grandparents: Mable and Dan Dawkins, paternal grandparents: Azielee Chambers and Sonny Ross; aunt, Brenda Chambers; two grandsons, Jeremy Joshua “JayJay” Lipscomb and Kurious Wilson.

Robert leaves to cherish his memories:  his mother, Alice Dawkins Chambers; two sisters, Joann Chambers Hemphill (Larry), Robin  Chambers; two brothers, David Edward Chambers (Angela), Deon             Thompson; three aunts, Shirley Reid, Lizzie Mae Chambers, Geraldine Leak; three uncles, David Dawkins (Helen), Theodore Dawkins, William Chambers (Norma);  six children, Jimreco, Terisha, Lashetta, Soleta, Latoya, and David “DJ” all of Gastonia, NC, twenty-four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

Funeral: Friday, February 19, 2021 at 4pm at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel ( 407 E. Grover Street, Shelby NC). The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. .
