Gaffney – Philip Ray Flowers, affectionately known as “Jack” born to the late Frank and Ida Farrer Flowers on February 17, 1934, transitioned to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Philip was the tenth of fourteen children. He attended elementary through high school in Catawba, North Carolina, where he graduated from Rosenwald High School. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the military (Army) to serve his country. There he attained the rank of Corporal. When he completed his tour of duty, he returned home and worked at Catawba General Hospital for several years prior to attending Carver College in Charlotte, North Carolina. Philip spent his professional life as an employee of General Electric and was supervisor of his team. He retired from GE after more than thirty plus years of employment. Philip was a sports enthusiast who mostly enjoyed football as an undercover Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved the Lord
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his wife Corinne Flowers and daughter Phyllis McDowell. He is survived by his daughter, Loretta Byers of Gaffney, SC., twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, George Flowers (Gloria) of Catawba, NC., and Lloyd Flowers (Joyce) of New York, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 15,2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Claremont. NC, with the Rev. Joe Shuford officiating, the body will lie-in-state at 1:00, interment will follow at Mackenzie Grove Campground.
The family is receiving friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at 702 Anthony Street Gaffney, SC., due to COVID-19, please limited your visiting time to ten minutes, face masks are required.
