Milo Dawkins Obituary

Shelby - Reverend Milo Dean Dawkins entered into this world on January 23, 1956 to James E. Dawkins, Sr. and Marie “Ella Mae” Whitworth.  He gained his heavenly wings on February 10, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, North Carolina.  Milo was 65 years young.

Milo to many was a simple man who never met a stranger, would often be found  talking to some random person to us, but a new friend to him.  He didn't mind giving advice when he could or telling you something about the bible when he had a chance.  He would always try to minister to those who would lend a ear.  He was a loving father, great-grand-father to all of his grandchildren.  He was Paw Paw Duck.

Milo favorite pastime besides fishing and gardening, you would find him on the back porch blowing his harmonica singing and praising the man up above.  Never once did he come across a person and didn’t say hello and start a conversation.  It was hard to go out to the store for a few things because he always had to stop and talk to somebody.  You will be missed.

Milo retired from Patrick Yarn in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, where he was a seasoned fork-lift driver.  He was also in the Army for 2 years and The National Guard for 14 years before retiring as a Building Engineer.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents:  James E. Dawkins, Sr. and, Marie “Ella Mae” Whitworth, one brother;  Gregory Dawkins, a son; Milo Anthony Dawkins, and grandchild; Haven Dawkins.

He leaves to cherish his fondest memories to his loving wife of 43 years, Mary of the home, two sons: Kenny Dawkins of Lincolnton, NC, Jackie Dawkins, Sr. (Jennifer) of Shelby, NC, two daughters; Tonya Farmer-Vinson of Houston, TX, Martha Bellamy (Daniel) of Gastonia, NC, three brothers: James E. Dawkins, Jr. (Leatha), Keith L. Dawkins (Cathy) Donnie Whitworth of Shelby, NC, four sisters; Toni Wilson (Tim) of Kings Mountain, NC, Tammie Dawkins (MeShawn) of  Augusta, GA, Sheila Whitworth, Gloria Whitworth of Kings Mountain, NC, 21 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his best fishing buddy: Steve Smith of Kings  Mountain, NC a host of nieces, nephews, other  relatives and friends.
