Gaffney – Jessie Elnora Bates Washington age 82, passed away on June 14,2021. She was born on January 16,1939 to the late Jesse and Clora Sizemore Bates of Gaffney, SC. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband DiVieny Washington, her siblings, Phillip Bates, Renear Brown, Davette Edwards, Valentine Stocks, and Sharon Hamilton. Jessie graduated from Benedict College in 1961 in Columbia, SC., and soon after became a school teacher. Jessie was also a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for many years.

Jessie is survived by two daughters, Sonya Washington and Heather Bridges (Rodney), five grandchildren, Cameron Bridges, Christopher Bridges (Logan), Alexis Bridges, Abigail Bridges, and Alyssa Washington, a great-grandson, Landon Bridges all of Gaffney, SC., a sister, Anita Baldwin (Robert) of Charlotte, NC., and many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

The family will be holding a private service per wishes of the family, no visitation please.
