Jerome Glen Curry

Shelby - Jerome Glen Curry age 78, transitioned Saturday June 10, 2023, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born October 5, 1944, to the late Glen Arley Curry and Irene Sikora in Chicago Il. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dick Curry and Tom Curry.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Sandra Korosidis Curry of Shelby, NC and his devoted sister Sandra Brink, also of Shelby, NC. Additionally, he is survived by his niece Cindy (Ben) Lopez, of Virginia Beach, VA, his niece Cindy Scovill of Morris, IL and his sister-in-law Joane Curry (Dick) of Chicago, IL.

Jerry was well loved by his five stepchildren, Bettyanna (John) Bremer of Charlotte, NC, Tamera (Bill) Panagiotidis of Crown Point, IN, Jimmy Dres (Kim) of Dyer, IN, Mark Hamilton (Carmen) of Lake Station, IN and Tina Dres (Les) of West Point, IA. He had eight grandchildren, Bethany, Josiah, Dominic, Linda, Andrew, Alexia, Christopher, and Sloane and ten great-grandchildren.

Jerry grew up in Chicago, IL. He graduated from James H. Bowen High School in January of 1963. Jerry faithfully served his country, serving during the Vietnam War from 1965-67 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He was a proud veteran of the US Army. He worked for US Steele in Gary, IN for over thirty years.

Jerry was a kind-hearted man who referred to everyone as “Pal”. He loved collecting movies and had collected well over 1000 movies. He loved wrestling and the WWE. He remained an avid Chicago fan rooting for the Bears and the White Sox. A kid at heart himself he loved volunteering for Vacation Bible School. He loved to laugh and had an arsenal of jokes he was always willing to share. He especially loved his “Sunshine”, his beloved Sandy, who was his constant companion and ultimately faithful caregiver during his long illness. While our hearts ache at his passing, we take comfort knowing he is resting peacefully in the arms of God.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday June 24, 2023, at 11:00am with a fellowship dinner to follow at Charlotte Calvary Nazarene Church, 4000 N Sharon Amity Rd. Charlotte, NC 28205. The Reverend John Bremer.
