Shelby -
James F. Thompson began his long and tedious journey of life in Cleveland County, North Carolina on September 11, 1938 and this journey came to a peaceful transition at Carolinas Healthcare System-Kings Mountain on October 7, 2018.
He was the son of the late Lee Andy Thompson and Thelma Mitchel Thompson.
James was a long time member of Maple Springs Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina was he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the All Males Choir, and church janitor. He employed with Tire Kro textile company for 40 years.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one sister; Carrie Gullette, two brothers; Brady Thompson and Venus Thompson.
Left to cherish his precious memories his wife of 55 years; Geraldine Hopper Thompson, six sisters; Annie Degree of Earl, North Carolina, Catherine Thompson, Burnette Hartgrove of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, Angelene Moore of Grover, North Carolina, Patricia Littlejohn, Susie Thompson, of Shelby, North Carolina, two brothers; Gene Thompson, Jerry Thompson(Sheila) of Shelby, North Carolina, two God-daughters; Lula Patterson (James) of Patterson Spring, North Carolina, Judy Hopper of Grover, North Carolina, two God-sons; Farris Turner, Marcus Dover, one aunt; Corry Mitchell and a host of other Family and Friends.
Funeral: Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2pm at Maple Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park
