Ivey Wesley Dula, Jr

Hickory- Ivey Wesley Dula, Jr. aka “Du” age 82 of 444 1st St. Hickory, transitioned from his earthly home August 20, 2022, at Catawba Valley Hospice House, Newton, North Carolina.  Ivey Jr. was born February 12, 1940, to the late Ivey W. Dula, Sr. and Katie Foster Dula in Catawba County, North Carolina.  

Ivey Jr. was a graduate of Ridgeview High School in Hickory, North Carolina.  He furthered his             education at Friendship College, in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Ivey Jr. was employed as a Machinist at Shuford Mills for 45+ years.  He also over seen four theatres and delivered meals to Senior Citizens Hilites.  He was the chairperson of the            Dula Family Reunion and Senior Citizen Hilites.  In his leisure, he enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, and watching his favorite football team the Carolina Panthers. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Dula, father, Ivey W. Dula, Sr. mother, Katie Foster Dula, sisters, Kathryn Dula Mary Rhinehardt and a grandson, Desmond Miller.

Left to cherish his memories his son, James Dula, daughter, Betty Jo Miller, grandchildren, Ivana Dula, Ciara Hewitt, Melissa (Christopher) Rushing, Sedric Miller, and a host of great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and special Caretaker Lesley Hewitt.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of his niece, Sheila 112 5th Ave. Hickory, NC

Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 26, 2022 at Hartzell UMC at 12 P.M. 465 South Center Street Hickory N C. 28602. Visitation one hour prior to service. Burial Southside cemetery
