Helen Ernestine (Smith) Jackson

Kings Mountain - God in His infinite wisdom called from labor to reward Helen Ernestine Smith Jackson. She was born to the late Reverend Gainwell and Clara Robbins Smith, on November 22, 1946 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. She departed for her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at White Oak Manor Nursing Facility, Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Helen was a graduate of Compact High School. She furthered her education receiving an Associate of Arts Degree. She retired as Patient Representative at Cleveland Regional Medical Center (Atrium Health Cleveland). Helen was a faithful member of the St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. She served as a member of the choir, church hostess, missionary, church announcer, chairperson of the Pastoral Care Committee, and kitchen staff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Dean and William Smith, five sisters, Margireen Houze, Betty Williamson, Alice Smith, Aileen Littlejohn, and Gainell Toms. She leaves to cherish precious memories: her husband of 46 years, Leon Jackson, two sons; Jonathan Jackson, Shawn Jackson, stepdaughter; Jennifer Williams, two sister; Mae Harper of Shelby, North Carolina, Wyomia (John) Jefferson of Grover, North Carolina, a niece raised as a little sister; Pamela Hickman, four nephews raised as brothers; Reverend Bobby (Dora) Houze of Charlotte, North Carolina, Reverend Billy (Karen) Houze, Reverend John (Fonda) Houze of Kings Mountain, North Carolina and Gene (Helen) Houze of Grover, North Carolina and a host of other relatives and friends. 

The family will meet at 1725 Shelby Road  Kings Mountain, NC 28086

Public Viewing: Monday, October 25, 2021 at Genesis Funeral Home- Shelby from 4pm until 6pm

Funeral: Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 12pm at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church, Grover, NC. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.

Burial: Church Cemetery
