Gaffney – Ms. Betty Jo Davis Covington was born on December 27,1951 in Union, SC to the late Louis C. Davis and Christine Davis whom she preceded in death along with her loving husband John E. Covington, sons, John “Andre” Covington and Wallace Covington, grandchild, Latoya McGill and one sister, Louise Leak and a Goddaughter, Betty Ann Lipscomb. The Lord called her home on October 26,2021 in Gaffney, SC. Betty was a graduate of Granard High School. After she graduated, she met the love of her life. Betty and John were married on October 6,1968 and to this union raised six loving children, Alfrita Dukes (George), Angela Gipson (Lee), Caesar Covington (Courtney) and Chad Covington. One stepchild, Beverly Jones and a special daughter Stacy Covington, 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Betty left behind six sisters Delois Davis, Margalene Davis, Rosy Pearson, Alice Howard, Gloria Smith, and Lori Davis and three brothers Rev. Louis J. Davis, Louis C. Davis and Johnson Davis. Betty also had eight brother-in-laws and five sister-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews.
Later, in life Betty taught Sunday school and God called her into the ministry as an Evangelist in the early 90’s. She went to Fruitland Bible College in Hendersonville, N.C. The Lord touched her to sing, and she produced 2 beautiful CD’s.
She was employed through Summit Mills for over 28 years. Also, she worked in the Cherokee County School District and Carowinds Amusement Park.
Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 6,2021 in the chapel of Genesis Funeral Cremation Service & Chapel Inc. burial will be private.
