Shelby - Miss Dorothy Mae 'Booty' Montgomery departed this life on the morning of Sunday, July 31, 2022 at her home, the Ivy of Gastonia in Lowell, North Carolina. Dorothy Mae was born on May 30, 1941 to the late John Frank and Johnida Montgomery.
She attended John Chavis High School, after graduating she began her job employment as a domestic worker for many prominent families in her community. She helped care for the homes and children of many who loved her dearly. She also worked at Washington Elementary, Beams rest home and Carolina Care. Later, she began working in textile at Howell Mill.
Dorothy Mae was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church from youth to adult. She headed the calling ministry which was dear to her heart. She carried on her ministry until her illness no longer allowed her to continue, to love and support her church.
Dorothy Mae was preceded in death by brothers, Frank “Pete” Montgomery, Dr. James. E Montgomery and Minister William Montgomery Senior; her sisters Mayola Montgomery, Rebecca Ann Tuft, Shirley Tuft, Brenda Sue Montgomery and Betty Jean Thomas. She lives to cherish loving fond memories two sons, Leeroy Montgomery (Bertha) Larry Montgomery(Sonja) both of Cherryville, North Carolina. Jeanette oats of Kings Mountain, Carolyn Wilson and Teresa Smith(James )both of Shelby North Carolina, and a special sister-in-law Patricia Montgomery of Shelby North Carolina.
Cierra Danielle Allen Louis”LA” Little(Jessica) Georgiana Lockhart, Alice”Bitty”Montgomery, Kailin Smith, Kamydn Smith, Shanta (Roger)Smith of Charlotte North Carolina. A special granddaughter whom she helped raise Dorothy Elisa Montgomery”DUCK”. A host of nieces and nephews family and friends.
Funeral: Thurday, August 4, 2022 at 2;30pm at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; the family will reeive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
