Barbara Wakefield

Shelby -  Barbara J Wakefield age 73 peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, December 27th, 2021. A native of Cleveland County, she was born on January 29th, 1948, to Robert Howard and Mary Essie Wesson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Frieda A. Wesson.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Shelby N.C.  She loved spending time with her Grandchildren and helping take care of her Grandson Cole of the home. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and spending time with friends and family.

She was employed by the Cleveland County Library as the Children's Librarian for 15 years. She was also a Foster Grandparent at James Love Elementary School for 7 years.

She is survived by her sister Bonita Wesson, daughter Leta Wakefield and fiancé Justin Ross and grandson Cole Wakefield, all the home, son Deandre Wakefield and wife Mary, granddaughters, Taylor, Ivy and Kennedy of Clermont Fla. Her son and daughter's father, Robert Wakefield of Clermont Fla. Niece Krystal Peoples and husband Chris of Charlotte N.C. Her lifetime friend Modestina Bush. As well as many family members and friends who cherish her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 8th, 2022 at 1:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, Shelby N.C. with the Rev. Jamal Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
