Shelby - Ar’tist “Artoo” Dae’shun Torrence, 19, was born on April 30, 2000 in Gaston County, NC and resided in Shelby, NC. He is the third oldest of Bridgette Griffin Fullenwider and William Torrence Jr. Atrium Health/Cleveland is where he departed his life on June 13, 2019. Artist was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomasine Crosby “Papa”, Frank Wimbush, and Janet Floyd Woods. Ar’tist always embodied a cheerful spirit, smiling and spreading words of wisdom throughout his community. He lived life to the fullest; enjoying the company of family and friends. His peers associated him with his drive to pursue the musical gift he was born with. He enjoyed singing, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Shelby High School is where he began crafting his pursuit of music; playing percussion instruments in marching and concert band. He graduated with a trade in welding. Lincoln Tech of Nashville, Tennessee is where Artist was pursuing a career in Automotive Technology in hopes of funding a future music career. Ar’tist came home to handle adult business before returning to Automotive School. While home he engaged in many hours of studio time; making community hit singles. Welcoming everyone with a loving, kind spirit and a warm heart was his way of bringing smiles to his community. He was a motivator; encouraging others to reach their highest potential. Always telling his family he was going to be famous and rich. He did not fall short of that vision in his community. He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his parents Bridgette Griffin Fullenwider (Ronnie) and William Torrence Jr., his siblings, Jatavius Griffin (Jasmine), Byren Griffin, Omar Griffin, Rony “RJ” Fullenwider, Zareia Torrence, Emani Griffin, Brianna Torrence, and Cecilia Bennett, his grandparents Sharon Griffin Crosby, Janice Woods Foster- paternal (Howard), and William E. Torrence Sr., his great grandmother Naomi Griffin, four uncles, Sean Griffin (Wyshena), Darius Griffin (Bridget), Edward Torrence, and Rusty Wimbush, his great uncle Henry Griffin (Willen), four aunts, Shalicia Griffin, April Moon, Tymeka Wimbush Dawson, and Inga Matthews (Jacob), his great aunt Patricia Griffin, special friend Brekalia Niyon, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 21, 2019 at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church at 2 P.M. Visitation 1 -2 P.M. Burial Sunset Cemetery.
