Addie Geter

Mrs. Addie Sadie Choates Geter, was born April 4, 1921 to the late Jule and Jessie Choates in York County, South Carolina.  She departed her  life on Thursday December 17, 2020 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. 

Addie accepted Christ at an early age and later became a member of  the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Waco, North Carolina.  She  received her (GED) from Cleveland Technical College, Shelby, NC.  Addie was known as "Mama and Grandma Geter" who loved her family, flowers, gardening, church family, listening to gospel music and preaching. Addie was employed in the past by Charles and Doris Dedmon and Family for 30 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Ivery Geter, three sons; Ivery Geter, Jr., Sherman Geter, and Howard Geter, a daughter; Gnelsie G. Robinson, a great-great granddaughter; Karmin Geter, three sisters; Lula Ellis, Geneva Walker, Annie Douglas, three brother; AY Choates, James Choates, and Paul Choates.

Addie leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters; Shirley Geter, Ruby Geter both of Shelby NC, Diane Geter (John) Rice of Lincolnton NC, two sons; Thurman Geter, Sr. (Larlee), Nathan Geter, Sr. (Linda) both of   Shelby NC,  twelve grandchildren: Danny Kee, Randy (Jermia) Brown, Daryl (Linda) Geter, Shun (Stacey) Rice, John (Erin) Rice, Jr., Tiwana (George) Jefferies, Jason (Tuesday) Geter, Thurman, (Heather) Geter, Jr., Christopher (Clarissa) Geter, Cedrick (Jessica) Geter, Nicky (Trey) Finger, and Nathan J. (Jamela) Geter, Jr., Godson; Lance Camp, 30 great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren, a special goddaughter; Evelena Robbs Adams of Shelby, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel in the Otis Mobley Memorial Chapel at 1:30 P.M. Visitation 30 minutes prior to Service. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
