Ruby (Sullivan) Sanders

Bessermer City - Mrs. Ruby "Boot" Sullivan Sanders, was born on January 1, 1935 in Gaston County, NC and departed this life peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2018 at Atrium Health of Cleveland County in Shelby, North Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. George Sullivan and Mrs. Hattie Christina Wilson.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lewis Sanders, Sr.; daughter, Norma Jean Sanders Womack; son, Bobby Lewis Sanders, Jr.; sister, Fannie Kirkland; and brothers: Franklin Wilson, Carl Wilson, and Johnny Wilson.
 
Ruby was a member at St. James Baptist Church in Bessemer City, NC until death, where Reverend A. Wayne Love is the Pastor.  She served faithfully until her health declined.  She was the most loyal worker at Ray Junior School, Burlington Phoenix Plant in Kings Mountain, NC; and later, she retired at Burlington in Mt. Holly. Ruby was also a homemaker, and the community mother, especially whenever someone needed food.  She made the best stickies, chicken and dumplings, and strawberry pie.  Ruby was the glue that has kept the family together.  She was a caregiver, and had always been a loving wife to Bobby Lewis, Sr.,to whom she was married for more than 50 years. Ruby enjoyed fishing with her friend and breakfast buddy, Mrs. Willette Alexander.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters: Patricia Logan of Bessemer City; Carolyn Bess (Clyde) of Kings Mtn., NC; two sons: Darryl Sanders (Kandy) of Hickory, NC; Gary Sanders of the home; and three grandsons that she raised as sons: Darryl Sanders, Jr., Tyrus Sanders, and Travis Sanders (Debbie) of the home; daughter-in-law, Marion G. Sanders of Kings Mtn., NC; seven siblings: Katherine Meeks of Hickory, NC; Gloria Diamond of VA; Bernice Forney of Winston-Salem, NC; Billy Wilson of VA; Renee Wilson Mitze (Charles) of New Jersey; George Brent Wilson (Helen) of Gastonia; and Ada Wilson of Gastonia, NC; Grandchildren: Rosalyn Adams (Johnny) of Kings Mtn., NC; Tyrone           Freeman (Colette) of Lowell, NC; Joe Logan of Bessemer City, NC; Brian Sanders of Kings Mtn., NC; Elizabeth Logan of Bessemer City, NC; Johnny Bell, Cherise Sanders, Ruby Bell, Darrin Sanders, Monica Moore (Jamar) and Marques Adams, all of Kings Mtn., NC; a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends, Minister Nellie Floyd, Jerry Smith and Willette Alexander.
 
 

The family will meet at 706 West Alabama Ave , Bessemer City, NC

Funeral: Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:30pm at St. James Baptist Church ( 1002 W. Carolina Ave, Bessemer City, NC 28016). The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.

Burial: Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, NC
