Morris Jay Mills

Morris Jay Mills, was born October 18th, 1963 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Cleveland Haskel Mills and Ernestine McClee Mills.   Morris was called home by God on April 18th, 2019. 

Morris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest McClee and Maggie Stevens McClee, his paternal grandparents; Samuel Mills and Wilma Patton Mills, his father; Cleveland Haskel Mills in May, 1999, one sister; Sabrina Ann Mills in December, 2006, and one brother; Samuel Lee Mills, May 2015.

Morris was a great peoples person and he never met a stranger.  He was an awesome Landscaper for much of his adult life.   He was funny, a very free spirit.  He had a tremendous love for his family, people in general and a tremendous love for his mother and for the Lord.  We thank God for the 55 years God allowed us to have Mar J.  We have not lost him because we know he is at the right hand of God.  He is FREE from all the suffering of this world and we thank God for it.

He is survived by one daughter, Shannon Ratchford of Gastonia, North Carolina, one grand daughter; DaQuana Ratchford of Gastonia, North Carolina, his mother; Ernestine McClee Mills, three brothers;  Reverend Roger C. Mills of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Joe Nathan Mills of Gastonia, North Carolina, Thomas Lee Mills of Charlotte, North Carolina, three sisters; Evelyn Mills Moore of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Angela Mills Knight of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gwen Mills Odums (Bobby) of King Mountain, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins and other relatives.
