Martin Lydell Malker

Martin Lydell Malker was born April 4, 1961 in Gaston County to the late Joanne Malker and the late Luke Long,  He departed this life on earth on Saturday July 28, 2018.  He was employed by Froneberger Express in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Martin was a very active member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.  As sure as the day is long, he was a born again Christian Man.  He was the ultimate Praise Leader.  He kept the spirit high at all times and Saint Paul will never be the same without him. 

Martin was an avid sports fan and in Junior High school, he excelled in football, basketball, and track.  He broke all the records.  He was a Pittsburg Steeler fan.  He loved his team, but he always told us he was “Team Jesus”

Martin was a member of the class of 1979 at North Gaston High School. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents;  Jess and Rachel Malker, paternal grandparents; Luke and Mattie Long.

He leaves to cherish is fondest memories is his lovely wife Charisse (Bell) of the home, his children;  Aaron Brooks,  Nicole Brooks of Gastonia, North Carolina, Shenik Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina, 13 grandchildren, his siblings;  Edgar Malker of Glendale, Maryland, Michelle Williams (Joe), Michael Kennedy, aunt Helena Long all of Gastonia, North Carolina, nephews; Brandon, Jarvin, Tevin, and JJ.  His brother-in-law; Bobby Bell (Shea), sister-in-law; Linda Bell and a host of other relatives, family, and friends,.

Funeral: Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 4pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
