Shelby - Mr. Leonard Ford, Sr., affectionately known as “Meek” or “Skinny” age 82, of 208 Claytenna Street Shelby, NC peacefully transition this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina. Leonard was born July 31, 1936, to the late James “Jim” Ford and the late Irene Dawkins Ford. Leonard attended Cherokee County School before moving to Earl, North Carolina. He retired twice from Burns and Spangler of Shelby after 30 plus years of service. He joined Shoals Creek at an early and attended Ellis Chapel and First Baptist Church of Earl. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; James “Jim” Ford, Irene Dawkins Ford, his grandparents; Joshua Ford and Hattie E. Jefferies Ford, his siblings; Floyd Ford, James “Bill” Ford, John Haney Ford, Cleveland “Cliff” Ford, Corrie “Alma” Dawkins, Betty Jean Crosby, and a special friend, Margaret Feaster. Left to cherish is fondest memories his children; Carrie Smith (Jerome) of the home, Jane Sandra Ford of Shelby, North Carolina, Leonard Ford, Jr. (Rose), of Shelby, North Carolina, Wanda Feaster of Grover, North Carolina, step-daughter; Rosie Jean Ford of New York, sister; Ms. Dorothy Mitchell of Shelby, North Carolina, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 1/2 great-greatgrandchildren, sister-in-law; Lillie B. Ford of Shelby, North Carolina, special cousins whom he grew up with JW and the late Lawrence Curtis of High Point, North Carolina, Willie and LC Ford of Mount Holly, North Carolina and host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
* Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Earl at 4 P.M . Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
