Juanita Crockett Smith, 84, was born August 8, 1934 in York County and departed this life June 17, 2019 at White Oak Manor Nursing Facility, Kings Mountain, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Sam Crockett and the late Ollie Mae Sadler Crockett and the wife of the late Matthew Smith.
At an early age, Juanita joined Weeping Mary Baptist Church, Bowling Green, South Carolina. She later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, North Carolina. In the 70’s, she joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Bessemer City, North Carolina where she was a member of the Young Adult Choir, Hymn Choir, Usher Board, Missionary Circle and the Pastor’s Aide. She was Textile Worker for 35 years and retired in 1997. Juanita loved her family. She enjoyed baking, working her flowers, and sewing, always coordinating her outfits.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sam Crockett, and Ollie Mae Sadler Crockett, her husband; Matthew Smith, a son; Brian Keith Adams, her sisters; Betty Mae Byers, Azzilee C. Garner, Carolyn C. Smith, her brothers; Lee Grant Crockett, Sr., Hazel Samuel Crockett, Edgar Crockett, and Fred Crockett, stepson; Jason Smith, and stepdaughter Charlene Virgil.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughters; Deborah Bell (Joe) of Grover, North Carolina, Angela Manning (Jimmie) of Grover, North Carolina, her sons; John Adams (Rosalyn) of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Wayne Adams of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Maurice Goodson (Felicia) of Suwanee, Georgia, her sisters; Katherine Gardner, Reelna Parker, Alease McCalla, Evelyn Whiteside, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her stepsons; Matthew Smith, Jr., Jerry Smith (Adriaane) both of Shelby, North Carolina, Dennis Smith of Los Angeles, California, stepdaughter; Melba Jean Burrow of Goldsboro, North Carolina and a host of other relatives and friends.
