Shelby - Jonah Sanders departed this life Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Hospice Cleveland County in Shelby, NC. He was born December 12, 1925 in Caldwell County, NC to the late Wilbert and Lee Rebecca Scott Sanders.
Mr. Sanders was employed at SouthCo Industries until his health declined. God gifted him with the ability to both play the lead guitar and sing. He had the opportunity to sing with various quartet groups from both North and South Carolina and left the legacy of the love of music to his family. He was a member of the original Silver Trumpets of Forest City, NC and the Royal Six of Gaffney, SC.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Lones M. Oglesby Sanders, two sons Terry D. Sanders, Amon J. Sanders and daughter-in-law Louticia A. Sanders, grandchildren Nicole Y. Littlejohn, Andrew Johnson, and Bradi I. Johnson, his sisters Angeline S. Gaines, Jessie, M. Sanders, Rosemary S. Diggs, Aretha S. Jefferies, Lillie S. Wilson, his brothers Leroy Sanders, Wilbert Sanders Jr., Melvin Sanders, and Willie Sanders Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his children daughters Violet S. Michael (James), Mary S. Maddox (Joe), Retener S. Watts (Larry) and Regina S Woods (Johnnie Jr.) and his son Wilbert E. Sanders, his sister Jennie S. Rivers and one sister-in-law, Ellen W. Adams. He has 15 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He had special friends Earlene Youngblood, Mary Sanders, and Willie (Jam-up) Tate.
