Kings Mountain - Mrs. Ioma Guyton McClain quietly transitioned into Eternal Rest on Monday, May 27, 2019 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. She was born on June 15, 1923 to the late Haskell and Rendy Guyton. Ioma attended Lincoln Academy High School in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. During Ioma’s life, she accomplished many endeavors. Through her life experiences, she has been a Dry Cleaner Engineer, served as a Chef in Restaurants, a Nurse Assistant, and Voter Registration Assistant. Many years she worked at Kinmont Industry. Her last and most rewarding experience was working as a Foster Grandparent for the Cleveland County School System. Ioma was a life long active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She served on the Trustee Board, Kitchen Committee, Choir, Usher Board and whatever other capacity that was needed. Ioma has been the Matriarch of our family for many years. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two sons; Norman Pressley, Sr., George Haskell Guyton, one Grandson; Eugene McClain one Great-grand son; Brandon Pressley, eight sisters; Gertrude Guyton, Canzadie Guyton, Mary Francis Guyton, Kathleen Davis, Mattie Guyton, Sarah Simons, Juanita Barnes, Delcina Moore, seven brothers; Aaron Richard Guyton, Columbus Guyton, Arthur Guyton, HG Guyton, James Guyton, Robert Guyton, and Carl Guyton. She leaves to cherish loving memories one daughter; Sarah Miller, three Granddaughters; Jacqueline McClain, Althea Tounkara (Cheick), Sonya Roseboro (Vincent), three Grandsons; Norman Pressley, Jr. (Charlene), Keith Pressley (Joyce), Curtis Pressley (Evelyn), twelve Great grands; three who were very special to her: Natalie Wingfield, Nathaniel Wingfield and Chadrick Roseboro (Altrinia), six Great-great grands, ten nieces, and for nephews that she dearly loved, two God children, Albert Ellis, and Flossie Johnson, three people that she was “Crazy About” Becky Smith, Brenda Adams, and Janet Beani and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral: Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 3pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain, NC. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
Burial: Mountain Rest Cemetery . The family is meeting at 118 North Cansler Street Kings mountain. A Viewing will be held Friday May 31, 2019 at Genesis Funeral Services in kings mountain from 4-7 p.m. 1802 Shelby Road.
