Hubert Ralph Haynes

SHELBY - Hubert “Roy” Haynes, 78, of 319 E. Sumter St. Shelby, N.C., passed away on Nov. 29, 2017, at Wendover Hospice of Shelby.He was born Aug. 7, 1939, and was the son of the late Daisy Champion Haynes and late Aaron Haynes. He was an Army Veteran and retired from the City of Shelby after 20 years of service. He was also a quilter for 25 years. He was affectionately known as “Froggy” by many of his closest friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Velma Haynes; two brothers, Dan Poston, and Robert Hosch; and a long life companion of 40 years, Evelyn Justine Hopper.

He is survived by one son, Avery “Todd” Jones, of Shelby; one sister, Lucille Haynes Walker of Shelby; one niece, Shelia Haynes Stroud of Shelby; two nephews, Boyce Walker of Shelby and Dwight Edward Walker (Melanie); one aunt Margaret Haynes of Shelby; and many loving cousins, family and friends.

Honoring the request of deceased there will be no service.
