Kings Mountain - Mrs. Christine Hutchens Tate went home to be with Lord on Monday, April 1, 2019 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Kings Mountain, NC surrounded by family. She was born March 11, 1922 in Beauford, Georgia to the late Herbert and Maggie Spriggs Hutchens.
Mrs. Tate was a longtime member of Galilee United Methodist Church where she served on the Women’s Society, Senior Usher Board, TA Powell Choir and the Kitchen Committee.
Mrs. Tate graduated from Compact High School in 1944. She retired from the Textiles Industry. Her pastime included sewing, shopping, and gardening. She had a special love for Hats in which she wore them well. She will be remembered for quoting “Is the Lord satisfied with me?”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Torrence Tate, Sr., her son; Albert Tate, four sisters; Pauline Hutchens, Claudine Hutchens Tate, Catherine Lewis, Mary Jane Holland, and her brother; Herbert Hutchens, Jr.
She Leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Pricilla Roseboro, Pamela Armstrong (Cleveland), three sons; James Torrence Tate, Jr. (Daisy), Charles Edward Tate, Paul Phillip Tate all of Kings Mountain, NC, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday April 6, 2019 at Galilee UMC at 11:30 am. Visitation 11-11:30 . Burial Adams Chapel Cemetery.
