Marieta " Rita" Yvette (Williamson) Strong

Cherryville - Marieta Yvette Williamson Strong, age 57, was born April 12, 1964 to James Williamson and Frances Grier in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Strong received her education at Shelby High School, Shelby, North Carolina. She was employed by Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby, North Carolina for 10 years in Environmental Services. Rita, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed cooking, cleaning, singing and organizing. . . On Saturday, October 16, 2021, Rita peacefully transitioned from her earthly home at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation in Cherryville, North Carolina. Rita is preceded in death by her mother, Frances W. Adams, daughter, Tanisha M. Strong, maternal grandparents Ovella and Sam Grier, and paternal grand-father, Fred Williamson, brothers, Ronald Williamson, Charles Williamson, Dean Williamson, Derrick Williamson, Kenny Williamson, Monty Williamson, and stepmother, Helen Williamson. . . Rita leaves to cherish fond memories: her children, Ranette W. Jones (Keenan), Johnathan Strong (Candace), Derrick Strong, (Demika); grandchildren, Keondria Williamson, Kauila Williamson, Kadela Williamson, Damanii Strong, Alexander LeGrande, La’kiya Black, Ja’Syia Strong, Na’Riya Strong; her father, Rev. James W. Williamson, sister, Angela Williamson; brothers, Joseph Williamson (Amy), Christopher Williamson (Antonia); aunts, Mary F. Walton, Dorothy Slaughter, Patricia Flack; uncles, Sam Grier, Jr., Gene Williamson (Golden), Harold Williamson (Elaine), Rayford; grandmother, Esther Williamson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2:30pm at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel in the Otis Mobley, Jr. Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 mins prior to the service.
