On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, Lloyd Durwin McSwain, age 58, transitioned from this life after years of battling diabetes.

Son of the late Howard and Phyllis Jean McSwain, Lloyd was born January 27, 1958 in New Haven Michigan, where he would spend his scholastic journey and graduate from New haven High School in 1976. However spending the majority of his adulthood in Shelby, North Carolina.

Lloyd was a jovial soul by nature, spending time with family meant a lot to him especially while spending the past seven years in a nursing home due to his illness and need of around the clock care. Lloyd loved cooking, with fried chicken being his specialty. He will always be remembered for his ability to make others laugh and his high pitch whistling and singing at any occasion.

Left to cherish many memories are his four children; Lloyd Elder and Shelly Sears, both of Detroit Michigan, Porsha Hill and Calvin David McSwain of Forest City, North Carolina; three brothers, Howard McSwain of Detroit, Michigan, Stacey McSwain(Cathy) of Charlotte, NC and Corey McSwain(Katherine) of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Brenda Darlene Matthews of Lancaster, TX, Tari R. McSwain of Shelby, NC, Camille E. McSwain, Gladys L. McSwain of Boiling Springs, NC and Katherine Tanis Riley of Detroit, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
