John Ell Poston

SHELBY-John E. Poston, age 74, of 111 Leslie Drive, Shelby, passed away on Dec. 9, 2015, at Hospice Wendover, Shelby.

The family will be receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel.

“ For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing”   John Ell Poston, 74, of 111 Leslie Drive, Shelby, NC peacefully transitioned on  December 9, 2015 at Hospice Wendover. John was born on June 26, 1941 to the late Zeek Williams and late Nettie Poston. He loved fishing, blues music, playing his guitar and most of all he loved Christ and all of his family.  John was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his wife, Betty Gean Poston; two brothers, Herman Johnson and Dan Poston; two sisters, Betsy Mae Poston and Dansey Lee Spikes; a stepfather, Emerson Johnson and Sandra Denise Poston.                                                                                                                                               He leaves to cherish fond memories, five daughters, Connie Wright, Inez Poston, Lori Ann Poston, Angela Poston and Alma Jackson; four sons, Johnny Lee Poston, Willus Dean Poston, Nicklous Lance Poston and Anthony Scott Poston; a sister, Patricia Wilson; two brothers, Billy Poston and Steve Johnson and a host of    grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. John turned his life around and for that the family is very grateful and will dearly and truly miss John.
