Joe Colonel Phillips

Gaffney - Mr. Joe C. "JC" Phillips age 78 of 1709 Love Springs Rd. Gaffney S.C., husband of Mrs. Mary H. Phillips peacefully transitions on Sunday Morning, December 17th at 6:26am at Mary Black Health Care Hospital, Gaffney, S.C.

Son of the late Thomas Phillips Sr. and the late Maggie Huskey Phillips, he was born August 07, 1939 in Cherokee County. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Curtis Phillips, to this union they had five children, daughter Minnie Phillips Hargrave (Stanley Sr.) High Point NC four sons Min. Maurice Phillips Sr. (Angela) Union SC Deacon Randy Phillips (Reeshemah) Reaco Phillips Sr. (Aleesha)  both of Gaffney and Jarvis Leon Phillips (Keenia) Aiken SC. From the union of his second marriage, Sarah Hopson, Diane Ratchford (Ricky) of Blacksburg, S.C., Connell Hopson all of Gaffney, S.C. Two brothers, Thomas B. Phillips (Mary) of Gaffney, S.C. and Edwin Phillips (Janie) of Columbia, S.C. and one sister Bessie P. Dawkins  of Gaffney, S.C. One Aunt Ethel Phillips of Winston Salem, N.C. A host of grandchildren, great-grand, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. A faithful member of the deacon board and pastor’s aide. He was a member of the Garnard High School Class of 1959. He was a retired employee of Monsanto of Blacksburg, S.C. and Memc of Moore S.C. He was a “jack of all trades”, electrician, mechanic, used cars salesman, and self-employed builder. You name it daddy could fix it.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at The Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. C.A. Wallace, Rev. Michael A. Bridges, Rev. Bobby D. Curtis, Rev. Willie Mayes, Pastor Eddie M. McConnell officiating.

There will be a thirty-minute visitation, 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Mr. JC, will lie in state at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of 1709 Love Springs Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
