Edmund "Butch" Harold Simmons

Edmund Harold Simmons "Butch", 66, of 308 Mary's Grove Church Rd., Kings Mtn., formerly of New York, peacefully transitioned on March 2, 2016 at Wendover Hospice. The family will be meeting at 310 Mary's Grove Church Rd., Kings Mtn.

Funeral: Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2pm at Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel in the Otis Mobley Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Reverend Mary Wallace, officiating.

Sunrise…Edmund Harold Simmons, better known as Butch, son of Harry Simmons and Dolly Simmons, was born July 11, 1949 in Yonkers, New York. For forty years he worked at Beth Abraham Hospital in Bronx, New York and retired in 2012 as a nurse’s aide. Growing up, he sang in a family group known as The Gospellets. In the 70’s he worked for singer Melba Moore and he was the lead singer-songwriter for R&B group The Reflections.

Sunset….Edmund departed this life on March 2, 2016 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, North Carolina. Edmund was preceded in death by his father, Harry Simmons; brothers James & John Simmons and also his maternal grandparents John & Hattie Smith and paternal grandparents Harold & Claudia Simmons. Those who remain….Edmund leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Dolly Simmons of Kings Mountain, NC; brothers, Harry Freeman (Kim) of Savannah, GA and Donald Simmons (Toki) of Carmel, NY; sisters, Jacqueline Degree (Philbert) of Kings Mountain, NC and Donna Gregory (John) of Allendale, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sunrise… James William Wilson, 65, of 237 Tryon Road Rutherfordton, NC, was born October 17, 1950 to the late Ezell Banks and late Annie Bell Banks. James worked in maintenance at the fair grounds.
