Annie Lee Sharpe

Annie Lee Sharpe age 79, of Alexandria, VA; answered the Master call on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA

Annie Lee Sharpe was born in Grover, SC on September 5, 1936, and was raised in Shelby, NC. When Annie became an adult, she moved from North Carolina, and settled in Alexandria, VA in 1972. It is there in which she attended cosmetology school and received her cosmetologist license… pursuing her career of making women look pretty. 

Annie was a fighter and experienced a host of medical issues throughout her lifetime.  As a type 2 diabetic for over 30 years, Annie effectively managed her blood sugar levels and never allowed it to interfere with her daily routines and lifestyle. Unfortunately in 2008 she was diagnosed with kidney failure which resulted in hemodialysis treatment several times a week. Despite her ongoing medical issues, Annie continued to engage in normal activity with her family and always remained grateful, joyful and hopeful. 

On Tuesday, July 19th while undergoing a dialysis treatment Annie suddenly experienced a heart attack that led to a coma. After four days of constant medical attention and monitoring, tests showed that her condition was not improving and her health began to significantly deteriorate. On Sunday, July 24th, at 11:25 AM she was declared brain dead and God took her to her final resting place.

The family will receive guest on Friday, August 5, 2106 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alex, VA; followed by a Life Celebration Service at 12 pm.

Burial will take place at 1:30pm, Sunday, August 7, 2016 at St. Peter Baptist Church, Grover, NC
